DAY WISE ITINERARY

SHIMLA – KAZA – MANALI – SHIMLA: Aug 5-12, 2023

Day 1: August 5, 2023 (Saturday) – Chandigarh to Shimla

Welcome to the “Queen of the Hills,” Shimla. You’ll be transported in chauffeured vehicles from the airport in Chandigarh to the hotel at Theog, at a short distance from Shimla. After your day of leisure, spend the evening getting to know your fellow travellers over a pre-drive briefing.

Day 2: August 6, 2023 (Sunday) – Shimla to Sangla: 192 Km | 6.5 hrs

You’ll set off to Sangla and drive on the infamous Hindustan Tibet Road, referred to as among the deadliest roads in the world for its half-tunnels, manually carved through rocky cliffs. You will check in to the hotel on the banks of the Baspa River before heading out on a scenic excursion to Chitkul, the last village of India on the Indo-Tibet border.

Day 3: August 7, 2023 (Monday) – Sangla to Tabo: 215 Km | 6 hrs

You will drive to Tabo, a picturesque and charming village located on the banks of the Spiti river in Lahaul & Spiti district, at an altitude of 10,700 ft. The road to Tabo passes Nako and the landslide prone Malling Nala. At a short diversion en-route is the Gui village, where lies the perfectly preserved 500-year-old mummy of Sangha Tenzin, a Buddhist monk. You’ll check in to the hotel and can spend the evening relaxing, or visit the oldest earthen Buddhist monastery of the region established over 1,000 years ago in Tabo.

Day 4: August 8, 2023 (Tuesday) – Tabo to Kaza: 60 Km | 2 hrs

You’ll drive to the neighboring town of Kaza in the heart of the Spiti Valley, at an altitude of 12,500 ft. You can visit key attractions en-route including Dhankar, a 16th-century fort monastery and former prison located at an altitude of  12,774 ft.,  Komic, identified as the highest village in the world located at an altitude of 15,500ft, Hikkim, the highest post office in India and Langza, famous for its huge golden statue of Buddha.

Day 5: August 9, 2023 (Wednesday) – Kaza

Today will be a day to relax and unwind. After a late breakfast, you can spend the day at leisure or indulge in short drives to visit the Kibber village and Ki Monastery, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Gelugpa sect located on top of a hill at an altitude of 13,668 ft.

Day 6: August 10, 2023 (Thursday) – Kaza to Manali: 172 Km | 6 hrs

You will begin your adventurous drive to Manali across the Kunzum La (14,931 ft). The largely unpaved road runs along the river bed and provides for a thrilling offroad driving experience. You will traverse the 9.02 km long Atal Tunnel, the highest highway single-tube tunnel above 10,000 ft., before reaching Manali later that evening.

Day 7: August 11, 2023 (Friday) – Manali to Shimla: 226 km | 7.5 hrs

You’ll check out and set off for Shimla. You will ascend to the Jalori pass at 10,282 ft and stop to take in the scenic beauty surrounding you. You will arrive at Shimla to relax and unwind on the final night of your journey.
